FAQS

Where does bluelight come from?

Many people don’t realize that artificial blue light is all around us; in today’s digital age, it’s nearly impossible to avoid. Any device that emits light—regardless of whether it appears blue—produces some level of blue light.

From tablets and smartphones to computer monitors, LED and plasma TVs, and even fluorescent lights in offices and stores, all electric-powered devices contribute to blue light exposure. This includes everyday household items, such as standard LED bulbs and even the light inside your refrigerator.

Bluelight and Eyestrain

Spending long hours in front of computer screens or under bright artificial lighting can lead to significant eye damage due to extended exposure to harmful blue light.

This chronic exposure can result in symptoms such as digital eye strain, dry or irritated eyes, headaches, and migraines, and it may even contribute to vision loss associated with macular degeneration.

What is Bluelight?

Blue light is a part of the visible light spectrum, specifically found in the 400-500nm range.

Particularly, blue light within the 400-450nm spectrum can lead to eye damage, including conditions like macular degeneration. Additionally, blue and green light in the 450-550nm range directly impacts the brain's production of melatonin, a hormone crucial for sleep. Insufficient melatonin can result in difficulties both falling asleep and staying asleep.

In our modern environment, we are constantly exposed to harmful blue light from various artificial sources, including computer screens, televisions, smartphones, tablets, and standard LED lighting. While we commonly refer to this harmful light as "blue light," it may not always appear visibly blue to the naked eye.

Where are you based?

Our products are designed and shipped from Melbourne, Australia.

When should I wear my glasses?

We recommend wearing your blue light glasses during screen use at any time of the day to reduce eyestrain and fatigue.

It's also important to wear your glasses after the sun goes down to ensure that your melatonin production is not disrupted, ultimately ensuring a good night sleep and protecting your overall health.
